Título: Success of software development projects in Portugal - preliminary results
Autor: Laranjeira, Mariana; Trigo, António; Varajão, João
Resumo: It is imperative for an organization that its software development projects succeed. However, these projects have often been termed as “problematic endeavors”. This paper presents the preliminary results of a research work conducted to characterize the success of software development projects in Portugal. The results obtained reveal high levels of success, which is contrary to the idea of failure that in the last decades has prevailed. It contributes, therefore, with a new and updated perspective of this phenomenon.; Para uma organização é fundamental que os seus projetos de desenvolvimento software sejam
bem-sucedidos.

No
implantação de TI, identificando oportunidades de investigação para o futuro.; The COVID-19 pandemic brought new challenges and demands to individuals and organizations, implying profound changes in society as we knew it. The Information Technology
(IT) sector was not immune to these changes. It was necessary to adapt quickly to new
circumstances, for example, concerning the modalities for carrying out the work. Several
research works seek to analyze the sudden adoption of remote work, focusing mainly on social
and human factors. However, other factors should be considered, including methodological,
organizational, and regulatory factors. This article presents a reflection on the challenges of
remote work and the impact of its sudden adoption in the context of IT implantation projects,
identifying research opportunities for the future

Título: Success factors of information systems projects in portuguese public institutions
Autor: Gonçalves, Antero; Oliveira, Paulo; Varajão, João
Resumo: Information technology and systems (IST) projects are fundamental for the development of contemporary organizations, and public institutions are no exception to this reality. Given the importance and complexity inherent to these projects, project management should be conducted with full awareness of the factors that influence success. Several works address the success factors of IST projects; however, the related literature focused on project management in the public sector is scarce. This paper presents a model of success factors for IST projects in public institutions resulting from a literature review, a case study of six Portuguese central government and local government organizations, and a questionnaire-based survey. From the set of factors identified, the results highlight those related to the project's scope and the project manager and team.; Os projetos de tecnologias e sistemas de informação (TSI) são fundamentais para o
Do

Título: A regression data mining approach in Lean Production
Autor: Braganca, Ricardo; Portela, Filipe; Santos, Manuel
Resumo: Nowadays, companies want technologies that are able to help them to make the best decision. Data Mining is an excellent tool to estimate the sales. It allows the company to optimize its production and reduce costs, eg, in storage. When these models are combined with Lean Production, it becomes easier to remove waste and optimize industrial production. This case study followed the CRISP-DM methodology in order to create a model able to reduce and, if possible, eliminate wastage. Several statistics measures were applied to the dataset. Regression algorithms were induced with the goal to find which one of the models are less likely to make mistakes, in other words, what model correctly predict the target result. After executing the tests, the model M1 from the scenario C1 with RandomTree algorithm, average data grouping and average method class creation is the less likely one to give errors regarding regression, having produced an RAE of 6.75%.

Título: Business model development and maturity in software-based startups: Insights from a case study
Autor: Afonso, Paulo; Fernandes, João M.
Resumo: Nowadays, the success or failure of software-based startups is highly dependent on a good alignment of technology, market needs and business model. In this context, an appropriate business design is extremely important for such (new) companies. Commonly, software-based startups are technology-centred and tend to neglect the importance of the business model. Nevertheless, they need to go beyond the development of innovative and effective products or services and take into account the profitability of the company through a proper business model. Based on an exploratory case study of a Portuguese startup, this paper suggests three different levels of maturity for software startups named here as first phase: (i) first product and rookie mistakes, (ii) second phase: the market-driven approach and (iii) third phase: mass market orientation.
