Resumo(s)Fungi, also well known as moulds, yeasts and mushrooms, are a diverse group of eukaryotic organisms which belonging to the "fifth kingdom". TheyFungi are ubiquitous in nature with microorganisms and display an extraordinary ability to decompose wastes while also causing much spoilage of food. Fungi have a high nuisance value as contaminants in laboratories and industrial settings. diversity with primary role in the nature as decomposers. Certain species are used directly as food and others in the manufacture of foodstuffs, antibiotics, enzymes, organic acids and alcohol. Still others can infect humans. Different classes of cChemicals have antifungal activity which turns them potentials biocidesmicrobicides. BiocidesMicrobicides can besuch as acids, alkalis, alcohols, aldehydes and halogens compounds. hHeavy metals have also shown antifungal activity as well peroxides compounds, phenolicss and surfactants show fungicidal activity; Different combinations and concentrations or formulations of thesesuch chemicals have been used forduring decades as microbicides against a variety of fungi. with success as disinfectants. This chapter addresses the most recent developments in this field on antifungal activity of biocidesmicrobicides. © 2013 Blackwell Publishing Ltd.
