Resumo(s)Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is one of the most common chronic diseases in almost all countries. It is characterized by the inability to maintain serum glucose concentration at the correct levels and results in disturbances of carbohydrate and lipid metabolism. Uncontrolled DM leads to other complications, namely in renal function. We present here a Pointof- Care Testing (POCT) device to evaluate DM and renal function based on optical detection/quantification of a set of selected molecules, which allows a high sensitivity when compared with the electrochemical detection POCT DM commercially available devices. Moreover, the final device will have a lower cost production and lower dimensions, concerning the optical detection POCT commercially available devices for the same propose.
