Healthcare interoperability through a JADE based multi-agent platform

Abstract

In the healthcare arena and in the design of its information systems, a fundamental principle is required for providing a better service throughout all de- partments, that principle is interoperability. Establishing connections among distinct service providers can be complicated and very often result in complex mesh of end- to-end flow of information which is too often hard to maintain and strongly coupled. Multi-agent system technology is a strong technology to address this subject. In this paper it is described an architecture of a multi-agent system, which aims to provide to the Health Information System with a distributed and consolidated tool towards implementing loosely-coupled interoperability among its systems.
