A importância do sistema logístico no comércio internacional

Abstract

Durante o segundo semestre do ano lectivo 2010/2011, realizei nos escritórios da empresa de logística multinacional alemã Rohlig em Barcelona, Espanha, o meu estágio curricular integrado no Mestrado em Estudos Interculturais Português/Chinês. Este estágio serviu, principalmente, como uma experiência na compreensão do funcionamento de uma multinacional e também como uma primeira abordagem ao mundo da logística, mais especificamente, no que diz respeito ao transporte internacional de mercadorias. A empresa onde estagiei, como referi anteriormente, denomina-se por Rohlig e foi fundada no ano de 1852 em Bremen por Carl Rohlig. Hoje em dia é uma das maiores empresas de logística controlada por fundos familiares. Está presente em quase todos os países, quer seja com escritórios próprios, joint-ventures ou agentes premium, e o seu core business centra-se no transporte intercontinental de mercadorias. Este relatório está dividido em 5 capítulos. No primeiro capítulo, a Introdução, faço o enquadramento deste estágio no âmbito académico e apresento os objectivos. Consta também deste capítulo uma abordagem às variáveis existentes no contexto internacional, funcionando como ponto de partida para este relatório. No segundo capítulo introduzo brevemente os conceitos gerais de logística, essenciais para o entendimento deste relatório, assim como as infra-estruturas indispensáveis à prática logística e o modo de funcionamento dos operadores logísticos. Faço ainda um retrato da situação logística tanto em Portugal, como na China abordando a situação das suas redes de transporte, as suas dificuldades e os objectivos. No terceiro capítulo apresento a Rohlig e a Weiss-Rohlig, falando dos seus valores corporativos, da sua localização actual e os seus objectivos para o futuro. No quarto capítulo descrevo a minha experiência, enquanto estagiário da Rohlig, no departamento marítimo, aéreo e comercial. Falo das minhas tarefas e responsabilidades, mas também dos procedimentos que aprendi enquanto lá estagiei. No quinto capítulo vou descrev er, sucintamente, como a Rohlig decidiu entrar na China, o que teve de fazer para consegui-lo e porquê.

During the second semester of the academic year 2010/2011 I held a graduate internship as part of my Master’s Degree in Intercultural Studies between Portugal and China at the German multinational logistics firm by the name of Rohlig, in Barcelona, Spain. This internship mainly served as an experience in the understanding and the functioning of a multinational company as well as a first step into the world of logistics, namely in the field of international freight transportation. As previously mentioned, the company where I was interning goes by the name of Rohlig, and was founded by Carl Rohlig in Bremen, 1852. Currently, Rohlig is one of the largest logistic firms still family owned. Present in nearly all countries, be it as private offices, joint-ventures or premium agents its core business specializes in the intercontinental transportation of cargo. My report is thus composed of the following five chapters. In the first chapter, i.e. the Introduction, the internship is framed within the specific academic field and a forward of the chief objectives is provided. This chapter is also composed of a prelude to the existing variables in an international context, the latter serving as a starting point to this report. In the second chapter the general concepts of logistics, essential to the understanding of this report, are introduced. This is followed by the necessary infrastructure in the practice of logistics as well an explanation as to how exactly logistic operators function. Finally, an overview is given of the logistic frame in Portugal and in China, including each country’s transportation network, difficulties and objectives. The third chapter serves as an overview to both Rohlig and Weiss-Rohlig, emphasizing on its values as a corporation, its current location and its future objectives. Chapter four provides the reader with an overview of my own experience as an intern in the Air, Sea and Commercial Departments of Rohlig. Insight is given into my particular duties and responsibilities, along with the methods and procedures acquired while an intern. Last but not least, the fifth chapter briefly describes how Rohlig decided to enter China, what it had to do in order to do so and the reasons why.
