Associação estatística em tabelas de contingência de 2x2

Abstract

Neste artigo relata-se um estudo sobre a avaliação da associação estatística por estudantes universitários, antes e depois de abordarem essa temática no ensino formal. No estudo participaram 57 estudantes moçambicanos, que frequentavam no ano letivo de 2011/2012 o 2º ano de um curso de formação de professores de matemática do ensino secundário. Os estudantes foram inquiridos sobre a associação estatística de duas variáveis dicotómicas representadas numa tabela de contingência de 2x2. Globalmente, os estudantes revelaram dificuldades em obter as respostas corretas, exibiram conceções limitadas e não adequadas de avaliação da associação estatística e o ensino teve um impacto limitado na melhoria das respostas dos estudantes.

In this article we report a study on the evaluation of the statistical association by college students, before and after addressing this subject in formal education. In the study participated 57 Mozambican students of the 2nd year of a training course for mathematics teachers of secondary school in the academic year of 2011/2012. Students were asked about the statistical association of two dichotomous variables represented in a contingency table. Overall, students showed difficulties in obtaining the correct answers, exhibited limited conceptions and not suitable for assessing the statistical association and the teaching had a limited impact on improving students’ responses.
