Relações na infância com as figuras significativas e violência na intimidade: um estudo qualitativo com agressores

Abstract

O presente estudo, de cariz exploratório, teve como objetivo compreender o modo como os agressores significam as suas relações com as figuras significativas na infância e analisar de que forma essas relações são utilizadas para darem sentido a si próprios e à violência que exercem sobre a companheira. Para tal, entrevistaram-se 8 agressores que integravam o Programa de Promoção e Intervenção com Agressores Conjugais (PPRIAC), adaptando-se o guião da entrevista sobre a vinculação para adultos e adolescentes – versão portuguesa da Adult Attachment Interview – AAI de Soares (1992). Procedeu-se à análise dos relatos dos agressores, seguindo a metodologia da Análise Temática e recorrendo ao software Nvivo. Os resultados indicam que os agressores significam as relações na infância como tendo uma influência significativa no seu desenvolvimento identitário e nos comportamentos violentos que perpetram contra a companheira. Globalmente, as relações negativas na infância são utilizadas para justificar a adoção de comportamentos abusivos na adultez, referindo a sua influência no desenvolvimento de características pessoais e no défice de competências ou recursos. Conclui-se que este discurso desresponsabiliza o agressor e pode legitimar práticas abusivas, devendo ser um tópico a considerar na intervenção com agressores.

The present study, exploratory approach, aimed at understanding how aggressors conceive their relationship with significant figures in their childhood and analyse how these relations are used to make sense of themselves and for explaining their violence towards the partner. Eight aggressors that participate in the Program for the Promotion and Intervention with Conjugal Offenders (PPRIAC) were interviewed, with an adapted version, of the interview on the attachment for adults and adolescents – Portuguese version of the Adult Attachment Interview – AAI Soares (1992). Reports were analysed following the methodology and thematic analysis of the software NVivo. The results indicate that the aggressors consider their relationships in childhood have a significant influence on their identity development and violent behavior against their partner. Overall, the negative relationships in childhood are used to justify the adoption of abusive behaviors in adulthood, referring to his influence on the development of personal characteristics and lack of skills or resources. We consider this speech is used to justify the offender and to legitimize abusive practices, therefore it is a topic that should be considered in intervention with aggressors.
