Euronews 2.0: o desafio de "pensar digital"

Abstract

A rápida evolução da internet e a massificação do acesso à World Wide Web, sobretudo com o desenvolvimento de dispositivos pessoais como os telemóveis e os tablets, capazes de manter o utilizador ligado à rede 24 horas, 7 dias por semana, vieram alterar significativamente o mundo do jornalismo. A presença das organizações jornalísticas na internet deixou de ser questionável. Mas, este meio em constante evolução goza de particularidades – a referir: a multimidialidade, interatividade, hipertextualidade e a instantaneidade - que colocam em causa ‘velhas’ práticas de produção e consumo de conteúdos noticiosos. O jornalismo online implica alterações profundas no modo de fazer o jornalismo. Este trabalho resulta da experiência enquanto estagiária no canal de televisão euronews, principalmente, no trabalho realizado na equipa web. Partindo dessa experiência, este relatório pretende identificar qual o impacto que a evolução e as transformações no jornalismo online está a ter na prática da atividade profissional. E entender de que forma os jornalistas da euronews estão a acompanhar e a satisfazer os desenvolvimentos que continuam a ocorrer no webjornalismo. Assim, depois de uma descrição reflexiva e crítica dos seis meses de estágio, é traçado o rumo do jornalismo online com base em estudos e investigações. O trabalho foi desenvolvido através do confronto entre estas reflexões teóricas e a observação das rotinas, impressões e trocas de ideias com os jornalistas do canal. Verifica-se que na euronews as transformações no jornalismo online têm tido impacto nas rotinas dos profissionais, sobretudo dos webjornalistas, mas ainda há um caminho a percorrer. O maior dos desafios: “fazer toda a redação pensar digital”.

The fast evolution of Internet and the widespread access to the World Wide Web, especially with the development of personal devices such as mobile phones and tablets, able to keep the user connected to the network 24 hours, 7 days per week, have significantly changed the world of journalism. The presence of news organizations on the internet is no longer questionable. However, this medium in constant evolution benefits from some particularities – to refer: multimediality, interactivity, hypertextuality and immediacy – which put into question ‘old’ practices of production and consumption of news content. The online journalism entails profound changes in the way journalism should be done. This report is the result of an internship experience at the television channel euronews. It will focus mainly on the work done in the web team. Based on this experience, this study aims to identify the impact of the evolution and the transformations that are occuring on the practice of professional activity in online journalism. It will try to explore the way euronews’s journalists are following and fulfilling the developments that continue to occur. Thereby, after a reflective and critical description of the six-month internship, it is traced the course of online journalism based on studies and research. The work was developed through the confrontation of theoretical considerations and routines observation, impressions and exchanged ideas with journalists of the channel. It is concluded that transformations in online journalism are also having impact on the routines of professionals at euronews, especially those at the web journalists. Still, there are some battles to be won. The biggest one: “getting the whole newsroom to think digital”.
