(Re)interpretar o Mosteiro de Santa Clara em Vila do Conde, do estudo à representação

Abstract

A reflexão sobre o património e os seus usos é um dos temas que têm sido mais debatidos no contexto atual. Nesse sentido, a presente dissertação surge do interesse em perceber de que forma se pode interpretar e valorizar edifícios históricos na contemporaneidade. O caso de estudo selecionado foi o Mosteiro de Santa Clara em Vila do Conde por se tratar de um conjunto edificado devoluto. As suas características arquitetónicas, entre as quais se destacam a sua escala, transformam-no num ex-libris urbano. O facto de estar abandonado e sem uma função ativa associada, favorece o seu estudo e a sua análise tipo-morfológica. Com intuito de refletir acerca do percurso histórico-construtivo desta casa monástica, a dissertação pretende ser usada como uma ferramenta de consulta para o entendimento do conjunto conventual. A análise baseou-se primeiramente, na recolha da informação visual e documental dispersa de modo a criar uma leitura original do edifício. Através do estudo da sua implantação territorial e relacional com o espaço urbano, bem como da sua evolução construtiva ao longo da vida do monumento, foram reconstituidos os seus estratos arquitetónicos. O trabalho desenvolveu-se em articulação com dados bibliográficos, suporte essencial, para a (re)interpretação e criação dos vários modelos tridimensionais. Posteriormente à reconstituição do desenvolvimento volumétrico do Mosteiro de Santa Clara, foi possível relaciona-lo com outros casos de estudo compreendendo e enquadrando as influências que conformam o edifício atual. (Re) interpretar o Mosteiro de Santa Clara- do estudo à representação pretende, assim, estudar, refletir e dar a conhecer à sociedade civil a importância patrimonial do edifício. A sua história complexa necessita de um conhecimento pluridisciplinar visto que “a conservação e o restauro dos monumentos constituem uma disciplina que apela à colaboração de todas as ciências e de todas as técnicas que possam contribuir para o estudo e salvaguarda do parimónio monumental.” Assim, a compreensão do valor patrimonial permite uma reflexão crítica acerca de uma intervenção contemporânea.

To rethink about the patrimony and its uses it is one of the themes that have been more debated on the current context. In that way, this dissertation arises from the interest on the understanding in which way historical buildings should be interpreted in the contemporaneity. The case of study was the Santa Clara Monastery in Vila do Conde because it is a vacant building. Its architectonic characteristics, as its scale, make it in an urban major symbol. The fact that it is empty and without an active function associated, promotes its study and its type-morphological analysis. With the intention to reflect about the historical-constructive course of this monastic house, this dissertation intends to be used as a consultation tool for the understanding of the monastery complex. The analysis was firstly, based on visual and documental information to create an original reading and understanding of the building. Through the study of its territorial and relational implantation with the urban space, as well as the constructive evolution, was possible reconstituted its architectural layers. The developed work was articulated with bibliographic information, essential support, for the (re)interpretation and creation of tridimensional models. After the reconstruction of the volumetric development of the Monastery of Santa Clara, it was possible to relate it with other study cases, understanding and fitting its influences that shaped the current building. (Re) interpret Santa Clara Monastery in Vila do Conde – from the study to the representation pretends, so, study, reflect and make known the patrimonial importance of the building to the society. Its complex history needs a multidisciplinary knowledge since “the conservation and restoration of monuments constitute a discipline that calls for involvement of all sciences and all techniques that can contribute to the study and protection of the architectural heritage.” Therefore, understanding the heritage value allows a critical reflection of a contemporary intervention.
