Os usos e os tempos no desenho de um centro hípico: desenhar o Clube Hípico do Norte

Abstract

A investigação nasce de um interesse muito pessoal, a prática do hipismo. Esta atividade que sempre palpitou curiosa tem sido frequentada há um ano e tem deixado desde então a sua marca até na forma de pensar a arquitetura. O trabalho surge para perceber o que é o desenho dos centros hípicos, as suas formas e usos. O Clube Hípico do Norte, em Gandra, Esposende, onde se deu este primeiro contacto, foi o objeto de estudo escolhido. Tem a vantagem de ser já familiar e de existir uma intenção real de (re)estruturar as suas instalações com vista á valorização no hipismo. O debruçar sobre a arquitetura praticada nestes lugares, ou a falta dela, começa a fazer cada vez mais sentido devido á afirmação maior destas atividades em Portugal. O que se procura é, perceber os usos deste lugar, potenciá-los, transformá-los, anulá-los, criar algo novo através deles. Para este fim os tempos de aparelhar, montar, passear com o cavalo, darlhe o banho, levá-lo á padock, e todo o processo de partilha com o animal tornar-se-á objeto de idealização de uma ideia concreta de projeto. Mais ainda, mostra-se este conhecimento como a rótula entre o existente, e o novo. Por último, um centro hípico não é um sistema fechado em si, ele interage com a paisagem em que se insere, também interessa a que nível e como se processam algumas dessas interações, porque elas, quer sejam ténues ou evidentes existem e o projeto considera-as como ferramenta de trabalho.

This investigation arises from a very personal interest, the practice of horseback riding. This activity that always throbbed curiosity has been frequented over a year, since then leaving a mark behind even on the form of thinking architecture. The work is used to understand the design of ridding centres, their forms and functions. In Esposende, more specifically Gandra, was where I first came into contact with the North Ridding club, hence the decision to implement it as the case study for this investigation. It has the advantage of being a familiar space and having an existing intention of restructuring its installations. The manner, in which the architecture is addressed in these places, or lack of, starts to play an important role with the affirmation of this activity in Portugal. What is intended is to understand the uses of these places, bringing potential, transforming, or cancelling them, creating something new. To do so, the timings of saddling a horse, ridding, hacking, bathing, taking the horse to the paddock and all the processes of sharing with the animal becomes the concept for the project. Furthermore, this knowledge is presented as the rod between the existent and the new. Finally, a ridding centre is not a closed system; it interacts with the landscape where it’s found, at what level and how some of these interactions occur are of interest. Whether these interactions are faint or clear they still exist and the project considers these a working tool.
