Satisfação sexual de homens com lesão vertebro-medular

Abstract

A satisfação sexual de pessoas com lesão vertebro-medular (LVM) é influenciada por fatores relacionais, físicos e psicossociais. Para compreender a satisfação sexual de homens com LVM em Portugal realizou-se esta investigação que, entre outros objetivos, procurou: i) descrever as mudanças ocorridas na vida quotidiana após a LVM; ii) caracterizar a satisfação sexual dos homens depois da LVM. Com essa intenção, fez-se um estudo de natureza qualitativa, com recurso a uma entrevista semiestruturada, realizada numa amostra de conveniência de homens com LVM de origem traumática (N=12), que estiveram internados num serviço de reabilitação. Verificou-se neste estudo que todos os relacionamentos permaneceram bons e a parte afetiva ficou mais forte em detrimento da parte sexual. Uma parte destes homens continuou a ter projetos para o futuro, nomeadamente a manifestar o desejo de poderem concretizar o papel da paternidade. O amor, o carinho, o beijo, o toque e certas atitudes que costumavam ter antes da lesão continuaram a dar prazer após a lesão, exceto nas zonas do corpo que não tinham sensibilidade, ou que tinham a sensibilidade diminuída. O desejo sexual continuou a existir, mas alguns referiram estar alterado ou diminuído. A ejaculação estava ausente na maioria destes homens e mais de metade da amostra tomava medicação para ter ereção suficientemente firme e duradoura. Estes resultados mostram como é importante desenvolver no futuro mais investigação a nível da sexualidade e educação em sexualidade de homens com LVM.

Sexual satisfaction of individuals with spinal cord injury (SCI) is influenced by relational, physical and psychosocial factors. To understand the sexual satisfaction of men with SCI in Portugal, this research was developed. Its objectives, among others, were: i) to describe the changes in everyday life after SCI ii) to characterize the sexual satisfaction of men after SCI. With this intention, a qualitative study, using a semi-structured interview, conducted on a convenience sample of men with SCI provoked by traumatic origin (N = 12) who were hospitalized in a rehabilitation service, was carried out. It was found that all relationships remained good and that the affective element grew stronger over the sexual element. One part of these men continued to have plans for the future, including the desire to exercise their role of fatherhood. Love, affection, kissing, touching, caressing and certain attitudes that they used to have before the injury continued to give them pleasure after their injury except in the areas of the body that had no sensitivity, or had decreased sensitivity. Sexual desire continued to exist, although some of them reported a change or a diminishing of sensation. Ejaculation was also absent in most of these men and more than half of the study sample was taking medication to attain a sufficiently firm and lasting erection. Therefore, these results show how important it is to develop in the future more research on sexuality and sexuality education of men with SCI.
