[Re]ativar os terrenos abandonados e a vegetação nas margens do rio Tâmega e das Lagoas em Chaves

Abstract

O presente trabalho propõe a (re)ativação dos terrenos abandonados e da vegetação nas margens do rio Tâmega e das Lagoas, na cidade de Chaves, formulando uma proposta de intervenção contínua. Pretende-se compreender o rio e a sua relação com a cidade. Numa aproximação às margens e na forma como os seus constituíntes se tornam dependentes e ligados ao rio. Constrituíndo-se este como um delineador estratégico para uma atuação comum, que encontra soluções e formas de revitalizar as suas caraterísticas, abrangente às margens e às distintas evoluções implícitas. Como metodologia, analisou-se a evolução do território e das frentes ribeirinhas, que posteriormente se entenderam num estudo à escala territorial e abrangente das relações entre o rio, a veiga e as margens, passando a ser este o foco e suporte de uma análise aos seus limites e constituíntes naturais, a vegetação, os caminhos e os terrenos. A partir destes, formula-se uma estratégia que explora a vegetação nos seus ciclos temporais e formas de interagir com as restantes estruturas associadas, sendo esta o mote para se reutilizar as zonas abandonadas e impulsionar o uso do espaço público, precedidos pela resolução dos problemas e equilíbrio dos ambientes e cursos de água. O processo desenvolvido no decorrer do trabalho, permitiu estruturar uma nova forma de atuação, sendo capaz de intervir aos mais variados níveis, direta ou indiretamente, proporcionando uma coneção e mutação natural (re)ativa das margens e dos elementos que as constituem. A exploração dos ambientes, do cultivo, de atmosferas, de uso do espaço público e da vegetação nas margens, originaram um resultado dinâmico, envolvido no contexto socio-económico atual e no equilíblio natural, com estímulo na paisagem.

The present work proposes the (re)activation of abandoned areas and vegetation, located on Tâmega river banks and some lakes nearby, in Chaves city, north of Portugal. This proposal seeks to formulate a continuous intervention. The aim is to understand the relation between the river and the city through an approach to the banks and how their components become dependent and linked to the river. This approach tries to build a strategic line that works as a common factor, finding solutions and ways that will allow to revitalize their features, maintaining focus on the river banks and on the developments that follows it. As a methodology, we analyzed the evolution of the territory and of the coastal fronts, that subsequently understood in a study on a regional scale and comprehensive relationship between the river, the lowland and the banks, becoming this the focus and support of an analysis of their limits and natural constituents, the vegetation, the paths and the land. From these, it is formulated a strategy that exploits the vegetation in their temporal cycles and ways to interact with the other associated structures, being this the motto for the reuse of abandoned areas and boost the use of public space, preceded by the resolution of problems and balance the environment and waterways. The process developed in the course of the work, allowed to structure a new way of acting, being able to intervene at various levels, directly or indirectly, by providing a natural (re)active connector and mutation of the banks and the elements that constitute them. The exploitation of environments, the cultivation of atmospheres, the use of public space and vegetation on the banks, originated a dynamic result, involved in the current socio-economic context and natural balance, with stimulus in the landscape.
