Se tu eliminares o conto de fadas da realidade eu sou contra ti: disse Kahn

Abstract

Em tempos marcados pela revalorização de ideais, tendo em vista mudanças de paradigma arquitetónico, o presente trabalho pretende contribuir para o equacionamento de uma “Arquitetura fantasiada” que, ainda pouco relevante junto de um discurso académico mais ortodoxo, tem, contudo, conquistado uma crescente importância, num contexto dominado pelo ceticismo de alguns. Procurando um distanciamento objetivo, intencional e fundamentado relativamente a uma prática prosaica e reducionista — a “Arquitetura silenciosa”, (a personagem inimiga) — a protagonista desta história é uma disciplina reinventada através da fantasia, da narrativa e dos contos de fadas (a heroína desta dissertação). Apelar-se-á a uma prática mais sensível, mais criativa; apelar-se-á, fundamentalmente, a uma transcendência figurativa, enaltecendo a imaginação como a principal e a mais importante ferramenta ao serviço de todo o processo de criação. Assim, a “Arquitetura fantasiada” desenvolver-se-á a partir de uma metodologia ficcional e interdisciplinar, incorporando conhecimentos oriundos desde a literatura fantástica à História da arte, desde a arquitetura à teoria da linguagem. Surgirá, ainda, no seu seguimento, a criação de um conto de fadas arquitetónico, narrado e ilustrado, a partir do qual se pretende, numa fase final, materializar todos estes propósitos num formato de projeto de arquitetura, manifestamente especulativo.

In a time marked by the revaluation of ideals, and having as a goal changes in architectural paradigms, the present work intends to contribute to the conceiving of a “fantasized Architecture”; which, despite its little relevance to the orthodox academic discourse, has nevertheless gained a growing importance in a context dominated by the scepticism of some. Seeking an objective, intentional and founded distancing from a prosaic and reductionist practice — “Silent Architecture”, the enemy practice — the protagonist of this story is a discipline reinvented through fantasy, narrative and fairy tales (the heroine of this dissertation). An appeal will be made for a more sensitive and creative practice; an appeal will be made, fundamentally, to a figurative transcendence, which celebrates imagination as the main and most important tool on the service of the whole process of creation. Thus, “fantasized Architecture” will develop itself from a fictional and interdisciplinary methodology, by incorporating knowledge stemming from fantastic literature to art history, from architecture to the theory of language. Following this, there will be a creation of a narrated and illustrated fairy tale, onto which all of these manifestly speculative purposes will be materialized — in the shape of an architectural project.
