Maus tratos à criança e ao adolescente (II): considerações a respeito do impacto desenvolvimental

Abstract

Este artigo procura (1) estabelecer o impacto desenvolvimental dos maus tratos à criança e ao adolescente e 2) estudar esse impacto com recurso à teoria da vinculação. São apresentados diversos estudos empíricos que mostram que e corno os maus tratos impõem sérios riscos para a criança em desenvolvimento, não apenas durante o período em que se verificam, mas também mais tarde, ao longo de toda a trajectória desenvolvimental. Esses estudos investigam o tipo de vinculação que as crianças maltratadas desenvolvem com as figuras parentais e fornecem evidências empíricas de que a alteração no comportamento parental resulta em padrões muitos inseguros de vinculação que dificultam a adaptação posterior da criança em áreas diversas de desenvolvimento: na qualidade da representação da vinculação, no desenvolvimento sócio-cognitivo, social e interpessoal, no desenvolvimento emocional, no desenvolvimento cognitivo e da linguagem e na emergência de psicopatologia na criança. Dá-se particular relevo à questão da transmissão intergeracional dos padrões de comportamento maltratante e às medidas de prevenção e intervenção que podem ser implementadas no sentido de quebrar o ciclo de transmissão do abuso.

This article tries to (1) establish the developmental impact of bad treatment in child and adolescent and (2) study that impact with the resource of the binding theory. Several empirical studies show which kind of bad treatment and how it imposes serious risks to the child in developmental, not only during the period in which they occur, but also later during all their development trajectory. Those studies investigate the type of binding that the maltreated children develop with their parents and give empirical evidences that the alteration in the parents behaviour result in very insecure binding patterns that make it difficult the later adaptation of the child in several development areas: in the quality of representing the bound, in the social cognitive development, social and interpersonal, in the emotional development, in the cognitive and language development and in the emergency of psychopathology in the child. Particularity relevant is the question of inter-generation transmission of the maltreating behaviour patterns, as well as the measures of prevention and intervention that could be implemented in order to break the abuse transmission cycle.
