A cultura chinesa na Dinastia Ming à luz do Tratado das Coisas da China (Évora, 1569-1570)

Abstract

Desde a dinastia Ming que a China e Portugal se relacionam profundamente. O Tratado das Coisas da China (1569-1570), de Frei Gaspar da Cruz, é uma obra histórica que relata detalhadamente o primeiro contacto entre os dois países, revelando todas as impressões do religioso sobre o Império Celestial, resultantes da sua estadia em Cantão: a situação do país, os costumes, a cultura e vários outros aspetos da sociedade chinesa. A presente dissertação pretende analisar vários assuntos relatados pelo missionário português, nomeadamente o vestuário, a gastronomia, hábitos de residência, meios de transporte, entre outros sobre os quais a obra se debruça, e onde se encontram apenas alguns erros minúsculos, que reiteram a sua qualidade. Esta análise terá como referência comparativa a História oficial da dinastia Ming. Esta investigação permitiu aprofundar o conhecimento pessoal da aluna, chinesa, acerca da história de dinastia Ming e conhecer a impressão dos portugueses sobre os chineses naquela época. Pretende-se que, de igual modo, outros possam tirar proveito deste trabalho, sobretudo portugueses e chineses que pretendam refletir sobre a comunicação intercultural e a sua importância para um mundo tolerante.

Since the Ming Dynasty, China and Portugal have maintained a good relationship. The book, Tratado das Coisas da China, written by Frei Gaspar da Cruz, is the first historic document that records the earliest contact between the two nations, including what the missionary saw and experienced during his stay in Canton, and also the local conditions and customs and some other aspects of Chinese society. In this thesis it is intended to analyze several aspects related to the Portuguese missionary, mainly the dress code, eating habits, living arrangements, means of transportation and many others focused in the book mentioned previously. Despite some minor errors, one may find this book to be very important, since it portrays its significance when compared to the official Ming dynasty documents. This research allowed the author in question to deepen her knowledge on the Ming Dynasty and the Portuguese people’s view of the Chinese during those times. It is also a goal that others may enjoy this research and gain new insight on the matter, especially those aiming to reflect on the intercultural communication and its importance to a more tolerant world.

中国和葡萄牙自明朝起，就有着密不可分的联系。 克鲁士的《中国志》是第一本详细记载中葡两国最早时期接触的葡文史料。 它记录了传教士克鲁士在广州停留期间的所见所闻，对中国国家概况、风土人情 以及其它各个方面做出了详细的记载。 本文主要对该史料中葡萄牙传教士关于明代衣、食、住、行与其他一些方面 的记载做出分析，在指出该书一些细小的错误以外，肯定了这部文献在史实记录 方面的真实性。本论文以明朝正史作为比较基准。 这项研究旨在加深身为中国学生的作者对明代历史以及对葡萄牙人眼中中 国人形象的了解，并使得更多的读者通过本文对该领域获得新的认识，尤其适用 于那些学习跨文化研究的葡萄牙人和中国人，引导他们思索跨文化交流对于共建 宽容世界的重要作用。
