Cuidar de quem cuida: uma necessidade atual

Abstract

A missão de um educador é dar o impulso para a concretização de mudanças, é dar luz a quem está apagado pela/na sociedade, promovendo sempre a autonomia do indivíduo. Este projeto abraçou uma temática pouco abordada e pouco reconhecida na sociedade. Estamos a falar dos cuidadores informais de pessoas dependentes. Torna-se importante olharmos para estes cidadãos com um olhar crítico, reflexivo e de preocupação. É essencial que os olhares deixem de estar centrados apenas na pessoa dependente, abrangendo os horizontes até ao ser que cuida. Consideramos necessário analisar esta realidade, acompanhá-la e investigá-la a nível de necessidade, interesses e motivações. Tendo em conta a informação recolhida, e inspirados na investigação-ação participativa, partimos para a intervenção. Esta foi guiada com o intuito de melhorar a qualidade de vida dos cuidadores, bem como de facilitar as tarefas diárias realizadas por esse mesmo público. Para tal, recorremos à utilização de métodos e técnicas de intervenção, possuindo como base teórica a educação permanente, dando destaque à educação de adultos, na perspetiva de uma educação para a saúde. Foi um projeto que respondeu positivamente às expectativas do público-alvo, cumpriu com os objetivos a que se tinha proposto e obteve impacto positivo na população interveniente.

The mission of an educator is to provide the impulse for the accomplishment of changes; it is to provide light for those who are unlit by/in the society, always promoting the autonomy of the individual. This project has embraced a subject with little consideration and little recognition in society. One is referring to informal caregivers of dependent people. It becomes important to look to these citizens with a critical, reflective and caring look. It is essential the looks stop being focused just on the dependent person, covering the horizons until the person who is the caregiver. One considers important to analyze this reality, to follow and investigate it at the level of necessity, interests and motivations. Taking into account all the information gathered, and inspired on the participative investigation-action, one moves on towards the intervention. The intervention was led with the intention of improving the quality of life of the caregivers, as well as to make easier the daily chores performed by that same community. For this, one has used the usage of methods and techniques of intervention, having as theoretical basis the permanent education, highlighting the education of adults, in the perspective of an education for health. It was a project which has met positively to the expectations of the target-audience, it has complied with the goals it had set itself and had a positive impact on the intervening population.
