Contextos funerários calcolíticos do Baixo Alentejo Interior

Abstract

Este artigo tem como objectivo apresentar alguns dados e considerações sobre o mundo funerário calcolítico do Baixo Alentejo interior através da análise comparativa dos sítios de Alto de Brinches 3 e Torre Velha 3 (S. Salvador, Serpa) e Porto Torrão sector 3-Oeste (Ferreira do Alentejo). Nestes contextos foram analisadas 11 estruturas funerárias tendo em conta aspectos como a arquitectura, características do enterramento, oferendas, género e idade. Os enterramentos foram realizados preferencialmente em fossa escavada na rocha; nos ritos verificámos a prática de inumações individuais primárias, com algumas deposições secundárias em ossários; a orientação dos enterramentos era diversificada, mas o sentido O-E foi majoritário; os cadáveres foram enterrados em decúbito lateral, com variações; as oferendas eram raras. Este tipo de resultados permitiu-nos, elaborar uma série de questões sobre as práticas funerárias do Calcolítico da região em estudo a responder no âmbito de outro tipo de trabalhos.

This paper aims to present some data and considerations about the Chalcolithic funerary practices of Baixo Alentejo interior through a comparative analysis for the sites of Alto de Brinches 3 and Torre Velha 3 (S. Salvador, Serpa, Beja) and Porto Torrão sector 3-West (Ferreira do Alentejo, Beja). In these contexts were analyzed 11 funerary structures taking into account items as architecture, burial characteristics, offerings, gender and age. Burials were mainly conducted in pit dug in the rock. About the rites we had noticed the practice of individual burials, mostly primary, and some cases of secondary deposition expressed by ossuaries. The orientation of burials was diverse, but the West/East had recorded the highest number of cases. The corpses were buried mainly in the lateral position, with variations between them. Offerings were rare. Such results allowed us to develop a series of questions about the Chalcolithic burial practices of the region under study, to answer in other type of work.
