Resumo(s): | Na mais recente edição do DSM - Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental
In the most recent edition of the DSM (5th edition) - Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, a new category of diagnosis has been added within eating disorders, more specificly, the avoidant-restrictive foodintake disorder (ARFID). Patients with this disorder present insufficient growth, lack of weight gain, a failure of psychosocial functioning and, in more serious cases, the need for enteral nutrition. Considering the literature review versus the state of the art, and for the best of our knowledge, the studies on this disturbance are still scarce, given that it is a very one recent disturbance. Thus, the main objective of this investigation is to evaluate the frequency of possible clinical cases and partial cases of ARFID as well as the association of these scenarios with other individual and family psychological variables in a non-clinical population of children. The research was supported on a sample of 330 children of both sexes and their parents, by using several tools that evaluate eating habits, body image satisfaction and weight perception. Among the main findings related to the purpose of the study highlights that the symptoms of restrictive-avoidant eating disorder are associated with higher anxiety / depression problems, isolation, unadjusted eating habits of the parents, and their pressure on the child to eat. |
