Atitudes face ao lazer e a satisfação com a vida em adolescentes e adultos idosos Portugueses

Abstract

A presente dissertação procurou contribuir para um maior conhecimento acerca de como as atitudes face ao lazer são percebidas pelos adolescentes e pelos adultos idosos e qual a relação que essas mesmas atitudes poderão ter na sua satisfação com a vida. A amostra foi constituída por um total de 296 participantes, nomeadamente 164 adolescentes, com idades entre os 14 e os 18 anos, e 131 adultos idosos, com idade igual ou superior a 65 anos. O estudo revelou que, ao analisarmos a influência do grupo etário nas atitudes face ao lazer e na satisfação com a vida, os adultos idosos apresentam níveis mais elevados em ambas as variáveis, aquando comparados com os adolescentes. Por outro lado, não foram encontradas diferenças estatisticamente significativas entre o sexo relativamente às atitudes face ao lazer e à satisfação com a vida. Contudo, o sexo feminino apresentou níveis mais elevado de atitudes face ao lazer do que o sexo masculino. Concluindo, os resultados revelaram que maiores níveis de atitudes face ao lazer contribuem para maiores níveis de satisfação com a vida da população.

The present dissertation aimed to contribute to the knowledge about how attitudes towards leisure are perceived by adolescents and older adults and what relation these same attitudes can have in their life satisfaction. The sample integrated 296 participants, including 164 adolescents, aged between 14 and 18 years old and 131 older adults, with 65 years of age or older. The study revealed that, when we analyze the influence of the age group on the attitudes towards leisure and life satisfaction, the older adults present higher levels in both variables, when compared with the adolescents. On the other hand, no statistically significant differences were found between gender in relation to attitudes towards leisure and life satisfaction. However, the female sex presented higher levels of attitudes towards leisure than the male sex. In conclusion, the results revealed that higher levels of attitudes towards leisure contribute to higher levels of life satisfaction of the population.
