Abstract

Caminhos do Leça: (re)descobrir os espaços ribeirinhos em Ermesinde é um trabalho que se debruça sobre a relação que o homem estabelece com o território, de que forma é que o ocupa e como essa relação influencia a paisagem e todo o meio onde se insere. É um estudo que pretende conhecer as atividades presentes num território e de que forma é que essas atividades podem influenciar uma estratégia de intervenção que fortaleça a relação do homem com o meio. O projeto baseia-se no desenho de uma linha de percurso na cidade de Ermesinde que liga dois pontos extremos que se encontram numa situação crítica, passando por toda a zona ribeirinha. O objeto de estudo é o rio Leça que atravessa o centro urbano de Ermesinde e o objetivo é estabelecer conexões entre a cidade e o rio, conexões que convocam espaços e usos perdidos e propõem novos usos. Para isto, o percurso desenvolve-se longitudinalmente à cidade com o qual estabelece conexões estratégicas, o que vai criando transversalidades entre a cidade e o rio seguindo um conjunto de intervenções articuladas pelo percurso e que estão intimamente relacionadas com este território. Trata-se de um trabalho que dá a conhecer as muitas transformações introduzidas por ação do Homem. Através da caracterização dessas transformações o projeto tenta contrariar a realidade negativa associada a muitas delas identificando e potenciando as qualidades mais positivas que contêm.

The Paths of Leça: (re)discovering the river-adjacent spaces in Ermesinde, is a study that focuses on the relations that man establishes with the territory, how he occupies it and how that relationship influences the landscape and the overall space where he dwells. It is a study that aims to know the activities which occur in the territory and how those activities can influence a strategy for intervention that strengthens the bond between man and the urban setting. This project translates in the drawing of a route line in the city of Ermesinde that connects two opposing points that are in a critical situation, passing through all of the river lands. The object of study is the Leça river that crosses Ermesinde’s urban centre whose objective is to establish connections between the city and its people, connections that summon lost spaces and uses and proposes new uses. For this end, the route develops longitudinally to the city with which it establishes strategic connections, creating more links between the city and the river following a set of interventions articulated with the route that are intimately related with this territory. It is a work that shows the many transformations introduced by Man. Through the characterization of those transformations the project tries to contradict the negative realities associated to most of them, identifying and empowering the more positive qualities that they contain.
