Desempenho de alunos de Engenharia em testes de hipóteses: o caso dos erros tipo I e tipo II

Abstract

Neste trabalho analisamos o desempenho em testes de hipóteses de 223 alunos da Licenciatura de Engenharia Informática do Instituto Superior de Engenharia do Porto, no ano letivo 2012-2013. Para tal, esses alunos responderam a um questionário sobre o tema, do qual analisamos neste texto três questões que versam a interpretação dos erros tipo I e tipo II. Os resultados mostram que os alunos, em geral, têm dificuldades nas questões colocadas neste tema de testes de hipóteses, principalmente em expressarem o seu raciocínio estatístico através da justificação escrita das respostas.

This study analyses the performance in hypothesis testing of 223 students of Bachelor of Computer Engineering of the School of Engineering of Porto, in the academic year 2012-2013. To this end, these students answered a questionnaire on the subject, which we analyse in this paper three questions that deal with the interpretation of the type I and type II errors. The results show that students generally have difficulty in questions of this hypothesis testing theme, mainly in expressing their statistical reasoning through the written explanation of the answers.
