O humor nas práticas letivas dos professores que ensinam matemática

Abstract

Este texto relata uma investigação realizada com o objetivo de conhecer como os professores portugueses, que ensinam Matemática, desde o 1.º ciclo do ensino básico até ao ensino superior, recorrem ao humor nas suas aulas e por que razão o fazem. Para isso, aplicou-se um questionário a professores de Portugal continental, tendo-se obtido 601 respostas. Os dados recolhidos foram submetidos a análise quantitativa e qualitativa. Os resultados permitem concluir que os professores consideram o ensino da Matemática compatível com o uso do humor. Consistentemente com isso, os professores dizem utilizar regularmente o humor para ensinar Matemática, com a função primordial de criar um clima facilitador da aprendizagem (função afetiva), mas também com o objetivo de ensinar temas matemáticos (função cognitiva).

This paper reports an investigation to know how Portuguese teachers, who teach mathematics, from primary to higher education, use humor in their classes and why they do it. For this, we applied a questionnaire to teachers of continental Portugal, having obtained 601 responses. The collected data were submitted to quantitative and qualitative analysis. The results show that teachers consider teaching mathematics compatible with the use of humor. Consistent with this, teachers say they regularly use humor to teach mathematics, with the primary goal of creating a climate that facilitates learning (affective function), but also for the purpose of teaching mathematical topics (cognitive function).
