Aspectos pedagógicos da "Rota do Paleozóico" (Canelas, Arouca, Portugal)

Abstract

A “Rota do Paleozóico” constitui uma das actividades propostas pelo Centro de Interpretação Geológica de Canelas (Arouca). A sua implementação foi precedida da inventariação e caracterização de um conjunto de geossítios localizados na área contígua à “Pedreira do Valério”, tendo estes sido seleccionados pelo seu interesse pedagógico. Estes locais de interesse geológico contam um capítulo da história geológica desta região, nomeadamente no que se diz respeito às rochas do Paleozóico aqui aflorantes, cuja formação foi contemporânea de alguns episódios marcantes da História da Terra ao longo de 220 milhões de anos durante os quais ocorreu a sedimentação das mesmas.

The “Paleozoic Trail” is one of the activities proposed by the Geological Interpretative Center of Canelas (Arouca). The preparation of this trail included the identification and caracterization of geosites in the area surrounding the “Valério`s Quarry” and were selected attending their high pedagogical interest. These geosites are representative of a chapter of the geological history of Arouca, the Paleozoic. The Paleozoic rocks observed in this area, whose sedimentation occurred at the same time as some important episodes of the History of the Earth, occurred in a discontinue manner during a period of about 220 million of years.
