Resumo(s)[Excerpt] Brazil’s contribution to global greenhouse gas emissions (mainly via deforestation), the importance of the Amazon as a carbon sink and “controlling agent” of several meteorological processes, and, according to global surveys, the population’s unusually high awareness of climate change make the country of great interest in the study of climate change communication. Brazil is also home to some of the world’s largest stocks of biodiversity and of fresh water, as well as a major hydropower and ethanol producer (which have their own – in some cases massive – environmental impacts).
