Rua Serpa Pinto 57|59, Viseu: projeto de intervenção

Abstract

Dois edifícios abandonados são o ponto de partida para este trabalho de investigação. Situados no centro da cidade de Viseu, estes edifícios constituem um oportunidade para revitalizar uma zona da cidade que tem sido alvo de várias intervenções inacabadas. Como se de uma narrativa se tratasse, a investigação desenrola-se ao longo de três capítulos. O primeiro propõe uma evolução histórica e programática dos edifícios 57 e 59 da Rua Serpa Pinto tanto no contexto dos lotes como também no contexto da evolução da envolvente próxima. A partir do existente reconstitui- se o passado, seguindo-se o reconhecimento do que chegou aos dias de hoje, identificando os problemas resultantes da falta de manutenção dos edifícios. Conclui-se com a reconversão como proposta para uma intervenção na pré-existência. Partindo do passado e analisando o presente pretende-se agora propor um novo programa: uma residência para estudantes e artistas, com espaço de atelier e de performance. Deste modo, a investigação agora apresentada ambiciona solucionar uma falha de programa existente naquela zona da cidade e devolver a estes edifícios a dignidade que algures no tempo perderam.

Two abandoned buildings are the starting point for an investigation. Located in the city center of Viseu, these buildings are an opportunity to revitalize a part of the city that as suffered several unfinished interventions. Like a narrative, this work evolves around three chapters. The first proposes an historic and programmatic evolution of the buildings number 57 and 59 of Serpa Pinto's Street, in both house and surrounding context. From the existing, the past is reconstituted, while on the second chapter we recognize what arrived to these date, identifying the problems that are a consequence of the lack of maintenance on the buildings. Following the last chapter, there is the reconversion as a proposal for an intervention on the pre-existant. Starting from the past and analyzing the present, we aim to propose a new program: a students and artists' residence with a performance and studio space. Thus, the investigation now presented has the ambition of solving a lack of program in that part of the city as well as giving to these buildings the dignity that somewhere in time they lost.
