We live in a society overflowing with images, where new technologies have given the possibility of the common individual to access and produce images in all contexts and places and share them with the whole world. Image is now a given in our daily lives, being part of our routines and our way of socializing. Fashion, being a reflection of an industry of high impact and fast pace, requires a visual message of great efficiency and a constant reinvention. Therefore, its image should represent the core values of the brand and transcend expectations. This research began with the need to decode market niches, categorize, enter their universes and cultures in order to facilitate the understanding of the visual and aesthetic universes of consumers, creating through methodologies that allow to communicate with each of them. Based on such questions as: “are these individuals so aesthetically intransigent? Can we evaluate them as a whole? Can we create a methodology that undoubtedly serve to understand consumers? A study was carried out with the aim to understand the concepts of image, esthetics, brand, identity and urban tribes as well as their evolution as a contemporary panorama, in the fields of philosophy, fashion and communication design. This dissertation is divided in four distinct parts: the first part seeks to understand the identity as a conceptual and graphic brand. The second part seeks to investigate the concept of Urban Tribe, its conceptual evolution in a contemporary reality and in the perspective of fashion image communication. In the third part of the work an image analysis methodology was developed.
