A paisagem na Idade do Ferro e romanização da Citânia de Sanfins, Paços de Ferreira: análise macro espacial

Abstract

Na presente dissertação apresentamos uma análise da paisagem de Citânia de Sanfins procurando compreender as dinâmicas sociais, económicas, políticas e simbólicas que decorreram no território onde este povoado se integra. Neste sentido, delimitámos o território através dos elementos que atuam como barreiras naturais, compreendendo como limite, a norte, o rio Ave, a sul, o rio Leça, a oeste, a zona de costa e, a este, a zona de montanha do concelho de Paços de Ferreira. Neste estudo foram integrados dezassete povoados da Idade do Ferro entre os quais o Castro de Guifões, o Castro de Alvarelhos, o Castro de Monte Padrão e a Citânia de Sanfins, que apresentam uma longa ocupação e um papel ativo durante a ocupação romana do território. A zona de estudo foi dividida em duas micro áreas, uma de interior e outra de litoral, sobre as quais realizámos análises geoespaciais, nomeadamente locacionais, com base em fatores como a altitude, a aptidão agrícola dos solos, a acessibilidade e a mobilidade, tendo sido incorporada, igualmente, a conjugação desses fatores de forma a extrair o máximo de informação possível sobre as características do território em que se implantam os povoados proto-históricos. O nosso trabalho procurou ainda avaliar o quadro da ocupação romana da área de estudo, que permitiu uma abordagem, necessariamente superficial, das diferenças ocupacionais entre a Idade do Ferro e o período romano. Na base da nossa investigação encontra-se uma análise detalhada da bibliografia disponível sobre os sítios que compõem o povoamento do território, que nos permitiu realizar a cartografia que se apresenta em anexo, tendo sido concretizada uma avaliação do estado de conservação e das intervenções efetuadas sobre os sítios arqueológicos que incluímos no nosso trabalho. Tendo por base os dados obtidos construímos um modelo interpretativo das dinâmicas ocorridas no território envolvente da Citânia de Sanfins durante a Idade do Ferro e a romanização.

In the present dissertation we present an analysis of the landscape of Citânia de Sanfins seeking to understand the social, economic, political and symbolic dynamics that occurred in the territory where this hillfort is integrated. For this matter we delimited the territory through the elements that act as natural barriers comprehending at north as limit the river Ave and at south the river Leça. At west we have as limit the coast line and at east the mountain range settled in the municipality of Paços de Ferreira. In this study we integrated seventeen hillforts from the Iron Age this being the Hillfort of Guifões, Hillfort of Alvarelhos, Hillfort of Monte Padrão and Citânia de Sanfins whom present a long occupation and an important role during the roman occupation of the territory. The study area was divided in two micro areas, one in the interior and one in the coastline in which we carried out geospatial analysis, namely locacional based in factors as altitude, the soils agricultural aptitude, accessibility and mobility and we also incorporated the combination of these factors in a way that we could extract the maximum information of the characteristics of the territory in which the hillforts are implemented. Our work also sought to evaluate the roman occupational distribution for the same study area allowing a superficial approach of the occupational differences between the Iron Age and the roman period. In the basis of our investigation there’s a detailed analysis of the available bibliography of the sites from that territory which allowed us to map it as it’s shown in appendix, as well as to value it’s conservation state and the interventions that have been carried out in the archaeological sites we include in our work. Based on the data obtained we build an interpretative model of the dynamics occurred on the evolving territory of Citânia de Sanfins during the Iron Age and romanization.
