A influência chinesa na moda ocidental

Abstract

A moda é uma arte que está em constante mudança e, por isso, os designers referenciam diversas influências na criação das suas coleções. Uma dessas influências é denominada influência chinesa. A dissertação “A influência Chinesa na Moda Ocidental” pretende analisar os elementos da cultura chinesa presentes na moda ocidental. Ao longo da dissertação é feito um enquadramento teórico, analisando a relação da semiótica com a moda. De seguida são analisados os simbolismos culturais chineses e posteriormente é comparado o design tradicional com o design moderno. A inspiração dos estilistas ocidentais é também retratada a fim de analisar as peças de vestuário que compõem esta tendência, utilizando uma metodologia qualitativa, com o instrumento da grelha de avaliação. Seguidamente, são analisadas as peças de vestuário e as marcas europeias que adotaram a tendência nas suas recentes coleções. Ao longo da dissertação, pretendo verificar se existe alguma presença da influência chinesa na moda ocidental, bem como dos elementos da cultura chinesa que os designers utilizam em junção com elementos da cultura ocidental, com uma tentativa de identificar os simbolismos que os designers ocidentais adotam de modo a incorporar a cultura chinesa.

Fashion is an art that is constantly changing and therefore designers refer to various influences in the creation of their collections. One of these influences is called the Chinese influence. The dissertation "The Chinese influence in Western Fashion" intends to analyze the elements of the Chinese Culture present in Western Fashion. Throughout the dissertation a theoretical framework is made, analyzing the relation between semiotics and fashion. Then the Chinese cultural symbolism is analyzed and later the traditional design is compared with the modern design. The inspiration of Western stylists is also portrayed in order to analyze the pieces of clothing that make up this trend, using a qualitative methodology, with the instrument of the evaluation grid. Next, the pieces of clothing and the European brands that have adopted the trend in their recent collections are analyzed. Throughout the dissertation I intend to verify if there is any presence of Chinese influence in Western fashion, as well as elements of Chinese culture that designers use in conjunction with elements of Western culture, with an attempt to identify the symbolism that Western designers adopt to incorporate Chinese culture.
