Metamorfose habitacional: o bairro das Caxinas

Abstract

O presente trabalho de investigação teórico-prático foi realizado em torno do projeto habitacional originalmente traçado por Álvaro Siza, localizado na Avenida Infante D. Henrique, em Caxinas - Vila do Conde. Este projeto além de se encontrar atualmente desenquadrado do programa para o qual foi realizado, algumas das alterações sofridas ao longo dos anos têm-se revelado negligentes para com a sua identidade e valor arquitetónico. O aumento da malha urbana da zona costeira, na região das Caxinas, refletiu-se numa evolução sociocultural e económica que resultou numa alteração do padrão de caraterização da utilização habitacional local de utilização permanente de famílias numerosas, para uma utilização periódica sazonal (férias). Vê-se assim fundamentada a elaboração de um projeto de reabilitação habitacional metamorficamente adaptada à evolução e necessidades contemporâneas, assente numa proposta cuidada e consciente do valor do património arquitetónico intrínseco ao projeto inicial. Tendo em conta estes objetivos, foi desenvolvida uma proposta de reabilitação da habitação que mais se afastava do traço original e dos restantes edifícios do mesmo projeto. Esta proposta envolveu um estudo exaustivo do projeto original, uma adaptação cuidada do seu programa atual e um reenquadramento às caraterísticas do projeto original. Foram então propostas alterações de adaptação e enquadramento de acordo com os objetivos definidos, tendo resultado em alterações no interior do edifício que fossem ao encontro das necessidades de utilização atual e alterações de exterior que potenciassem as caraterísticas interiores pretendidas e aproximassem o edifício das suas caraterísticas de traço original. Resultou assim, entre outras, na proposta de uma grande área no piso inferior que promovesse e facilitasse a interação social caraterística de um atual programa de férias e lazer, e no recondicionamento de aberturas ao exterior de forma melhor explorar a incidência de luz solar, mantendo a privacidade interior. Todo o sistema construtivo, pequenas patologias existentes e a materialidade utilizada foram tidas em atenção, no sentido de apresentar soluções que melhor se enquadrassem nas exigências das caraterísticas e de qualidade da intervenção arquitetónica.

The present theoretical-practical thesis was carried out around the housing project originally designed by Álvaro Siza, located at Avenida Infante D. Henrique, in Caxinas - Vila do Conde. This project, besides being currently out of step with the program for which it was diesigned for, some of the changes suffered over the years have been negligent in terms of its identity and architectural value. The increase in the urban mesh of the coastal zone in the Caxinas region was reflected in a socio-cultural and economic evolution that resulted in a change in the characterization pattern of the local habitation of permanent use of large families for seasonal use (vacations). See if justified, the elaboration of a housing rehabilitation project metamorphically adapted to contemporary needs and evolution, based on a careful and conscious proposal of the value of the architectural heritage intrinsic to the original project. Taking into account these objectives, a proposal was developed for the rehabilitation of housing that was further away from the original feature and from the other buildings of the same project. This proposal involved an exhaustive study of the original project, a careful adaptation of its current program and a reframing to the characteristics of the original project. In accordance with the defined objectives was elaborated some modifications of adaptation and framing, resulting in changes in the interior of the building that meet the needs of current use and exterior changes that increase the desired interior characteristics and bring the building closer to his original trace. This resulted, among others, in a proposal of a large area on the lower floor that would promote and facilitate the social interaction of a current holiday, and the reconditioning of openings to the exterior to better explore the incidence of sunlight, while maintaining inner privacy. The whole construction system, small existing pathologies and the materiality used were taken into account in order to present solutions that best fit the requirements of the characteristics and quality of the architectural intervention.
