Universidade do Minho.
promoção do envelhecimento bem-sucedido.
The present internship report is part of the Master’s in Education, in the specialized Area of Adult Education and Community Intervention, in the Institute of Education, University of Minho. It presents an investigation and intervention project called “Adult Education and the Communities Intervention as a factor for elderly empowerment” and was conducted in an IPSS, with a target audience aged 57 to 92 years old. We are currently are living in a time of prejudice against aging and the older population, creating unfounded misconceptions about the elderly and what they may or may not be capable of doing, so to counteract this, we have developed a project that aims to promote successful aging. This work was guided by the qualitative research paradigm and was based on a participatory action based research that allowed us, from the outset, a close relationship with the target audience. Based on the interests, needs and preferences of the participants, three workshops were constructed (health, arts and playful pedagogy) and an atelier (cognitive stimulation), and were made dynamic through sociocultural animation techniques. We consider it imperative that the current intervention be carried out with the perspective of a lifelong education, in which participants become leaders of their own learning and transformation, therefore experiencing quality of life and active aging. The results, obtained through a semi-structured interview, showed us that the project fulfilled its purpose and objectives. The analysis of the results shows evidence of the benefits of the project being the acquisition of new learning, the occupation of their free time and the perception of an increase in the health level, living and feeling of inclusion. In conclusion, we consider that our intervention has had a significant impact on the target audience and their lives, making them people with a better quality of life, happier, more participative and fulfilled. |
