Resumo(s)Lab-on-paper devices constitute a promising tool for biosensing systems due to their easiness of fabrication and use, inherent low-cost, easy tailoring in terms of device architecture and/or function, biocompatibility and easy disposal. When combined with non-enzymatic approaches the increase on device's shelf life, stability and analytical features improvement can be achieved. In this chapter, a brief description of the lab-on-paper concept is presented alongside a review of works reporting non-enzymatic approaches on paper-based platforms using two of the most common transduction mechanisms: optical and electrochemical methods.
