Um olhar sobre a aceleração social e técnica, velocidade e os usos do tempo: o caso das atividades criativas e de comunicação

Abstract

A presente pesquisa foi desenvolvida no âmbito do Mestrado em Comunicação, Arte e Cultura, no Instituto de Ciências Sociais da Universidade do Minho e tem por objetivo analisar a aceleração social e técnica, velocidade e os usos do tempo em algumas atividades de comunicação. Inicialmente procuramos demonstrar como os conceitos do tempo percorreram um caminho de uma fundamentação natural para um conceito social. Buscamos autores da filosofia, antropologia, sociologia, como Immanuel Kant, Émile Durkheim, Henri Bergson, Max Weber, Martin Heidegger, Alfred Gell, Anthony Giddens, John Urry, Edward T. Hall, entre outros. Em seguida, enfocamos a sistematização proposta por Hartmut Rosa sobre aceleração social e velocidade. Procuramos demonstrar como tais conceitos provocaram mudanças estruturais na sociedade e em nosso recorte de pesquisa, nos profissionais da comunicação. Incluímos um breve estudo sobre a sociologia e o tempo do jornalismo, a caminho das transformações que acontecem no segmento. No próximo passo, com o objetivo atualizar o tema, realizamos entrevistas, sob a ótica do tempo, com alguns profissionais que exercem atividades de comunicação como a escrita (reportagens, artigos, livros), peças publicitárias e ilustrações. Na conclusão do trabalho, verificamos como a velocidade, junto aos aparatos técnicos, tem pressionado e moldado as tarefas criativas e intelectuais. Pelas lentes temporais, acrescentamos reflexões sobre o sector, que se encontra em profunda transformação. Finalmente, analisamos perspectivas para o futuro, por meio das opiniões das entrevistas e dos autores consultados.

This research was developed in the context of the final year of the Master in Communication, Art and Culture, at the Institute of Social Sciences of the University of Minho and aims to analyze the social and technical acceleration, speed and the use of time in some communication activities. Initially we tried to demonstrate how the concepts of time develpped witinh the social sciences studies, considering authors from philosophy, anthropology and sociology, such as Immanuel Kant, Emile Durkheim, Henri Bergson, Max Weber, Martin Heidegger, Alfred Gell, Anthony Giddens, John Urry, Edward T. Hall, and others. Then, we focus on the systematization proposed by Hartmut Rosa concerning social acceleration and speed. We seek to demonstrate how such concepts have caused structural changes in society as well as in communication domains, including the ways communication professionals deal with their own activities. We have included a brief study on the sociology and time of journalism, with the view to discuss the transformations that take place in the segment. In the next step, in order to update the theme, we conducted interviews, from the perspective of time, with some professionals performing communication activities such as writing (reports, articles, books), advertisements and illustrations. In the conclusion of the work, we clarified how the speed, along with the technical apparatuses, has pressed and molded the creative and intellectual tasks. Following the time lenses, we add reflections about the isue, which is in deep transformation. Finally, we analyze perspectives for the future based on the opinions of the interviews as well as of the the authors consulted.
