Os provérbios como janelas: modos de viver e pensar de há mais de três séculos nos provérbios sobre o vinho

Abstract

O Vocabulario Portuguez e Latino de Rafael Bluteau, foi editado entre 1712 e 1728, em 8 volumes e 2 de suplemento. Tem importância fundamental dentro da lexicologia do português porque é, verdadeiramente, o primeiro dicionário da língua portuguesa. Nesta obra encontram-se variados e abundantes provérbios portugueses nas respetivas entradas, o que possibilita que consigamos entrever os modos de viver e pensar no Portugal de há mais de três séculos. Este texto procurará, assim, analisar os provérbios que têm a palavra “vinho” como central e evidenciar a importância central do vinho nas formas de vida e nas formas de pensar dos séculos passados, sublinhando a vertente simbólica e social que eles espelham.

The Vocabulario Portuguez e Latino by Rafael Bluteau, was published between 1712 and 1728, in 8 volumes and 2 supplement. It is a work of fundamental importance within Portuguese lexicology because it is truly the first dictionary of the Portuguese language. In this work we can find varied and abundant Portuguese proverbs in its entries which allows us to be able to glimpse the ways of living and thinking in Portugal for more than three centuries. This text will seek to analyze the proverbs containing the word “wine” as central and to highlight the central importance of wine in the ways of living and in the ways of thinking of past centuries, underlining the symbolic and social aspect that they allow to mirror.
