Resistir à desesperança do Antropoceno: um exame do conceito de utopia concreta de Ernst Bloch

Abstract

Nessa dissertação, temos como intenção a reflexão sobre duas hipóteses, uma que contém a premissa escatológica do fim dos tempos, e a outra, antagónica, de que há um potencial utópico e emancipatório no Antropoceno. Para isso, consideramos essencial a análise aprofundada de três temas. O primeiro tema é o conceito do Antropoceno, no qual se faz necessário a compreensão do próprio conceito, a análise histórica sobre a interferência da atividade humana no Sistema Terrestre e o impacto que o ser humano está a causar em todas as esferas da vida humana e na vida biológica que compõe o planeta Terra. No segundo tema, empreendemos a análise do conceito de utopia e da história das utopias, a fim de encontrar as “raízes” dos problemas sociais, políticos e morais da sociedade atual, e a maneira como cada utopista foi capaz de antecipar esses problemas. No terceiro tema, sob a luz de Ernst Bloch, realizamos a análise do conceito de utopia concreta e a explicação da possibilidade de uma utopia concreta e da emancipação da espécie humana. A partir daí, refletir-se-á sobre a esperança radical como uma alternativa de resistência à desesperança na época do Antropoceno, capaz de criar uma intersubjetividade humana diferente e, consequentemente, engendrar “uma nova condição humana”.

In this dissertation, we intend to reflect on two hypotheses, one that contains the eschatological premise of the end of the human species, and the other, antagonistic, that there is an utopian and emancipatory potential in the Anthropocene. In this regard, we consider the in-depth analysis of three themes to be essential. The first theme is the concept of the Anthropocene, in which it is necessary to understand the concept itself, the historical analysis of the interference of human activity in the Earth System and the impact that the human being is causing in all spheres of human life and in the biological life that makes up the Earth. In the second theme, we undertake the analysis of the concept of utopia and the history of utopias, in order to find the “roots” of the social, political and moral problems of today's society, and how each utopian was able to anticipate these problems. In the third theme, under the light of Ernst Bloch, we carry out the analysis of the concept of concrete utopia, and the explanation of the possibility of a concrete utopia and the emancipation of the human species. In the final chapter, we will reflect on a radical hope as an alternative of resistance to hopelessness in the Anthropocene’s period, capable of creating a different human intersubjectivity and, consequently, engendering “a new human condition”.
