Colonizando indígenas: a exploração do trabalho feminino no projeto colonial da Companhia de Diamantes de Angola

Abstract

Por meio dessa dissertação observa-se como a colonização é capaz de moldar civilizações e recriar sociedades, com o olhar voltado para a construção do III Império colonial português focado no desenvolvimento da Companhia de Diamantes da Angola (Diamang). Os trabalhos desempenhados por mulheres nas atividades designadas pelo Serviço de Propaganda e Assistência e Mão-de-Obra Indígena serão os objetos de estudo, no qual foi necessário descontruir e analisar criticamente as suas fontes, nomeadamente, as provas fotográficas do Arquivo fotográfico Diamang, que se encontram em posse do Museu Nogueira da Silva, e os Relatórios Anuais SPAMOI, disponíveis no acervo diamangdigital.net. Com base no do processo metodológico e regrado nos fundamentos encontrados na bibliografia, foi possível cruzar a historiografia colonial, estudos do colonialismo científico e teorias da fotografia colonial, junto ao rico estudo já construído sobre a Diamang e a população que a envolvia. A partir disso, é investigado e narrado quem e quais atividades exercidas pelas mulheres “indígenas” residentes na Lunda.

Through this dissertation I observe how colonization is able to shape civilizations and recreate societies, taking into account the construction of the III Portuguese Colonial Empire, focused on the development of the Diamond Company of Angola (Diamang). The roles carried out by women in the designated activities by the Propaganda and Assistance Service and Indigenous Labor are the objects of study, in which was necessary to deconstruct and critically analyze their sources, namely, photographic evidences from the Diamang Photographic Archive, which is in the possession of the Nogueira da Silva Museum, and the SPAMOI Annual Reports, available in the digital collection diamangdigital.net. Based on the methodological process and the record of fundamentals found in the bibliography, it was possible to cross colonial historiography, studies of scientific colonialism and theories of colonial photography, together with the study already developed about Diamang and the surrounding population. From this, it was possible to investigate and narrate who and which activities performed by "indigenous" women residing in Lunda.
