Do retrato e da ausência: Vasco Graça Moura & Noé Sendas

Abstract

Estabelecida como uma das categorias mais exploradas das artes pictóricas, o retrato tem presença assinalável na história e crítica artísticas. Sobrevivendo a variações e mutações, estabelece-se também como manifestação da ausência e da perda. Pretende-se, com o presente texto, explorar algumas manifestações de ausência no retrato poético e pictórico contemporâneo. Ao partir do tratado de Francisco de Holanda, pretende-se traçar uma linha de leitura que assente na questão da ausência, manifestação que se revela ainda em termos contemporâneos como essencial para o entendimento do retrato enquanto categoria. Entre a poesia de Vasco Graça Moura e a arte de Noé Sendas, estabelecer-se-ão paralelismos em termos compositivos que apontam na direção do retrato em/da ausência.

T e portrait has been established as one of the most explored genres within the f ne arts and it is signifcantly present in art history and criticism. It has survived variations and mutations, and it has also managed to establish itself as a manifestation of absence and loss. Stemming from a reading of Francisco de Holanda’s treaty this text intends to explore some of the representations of absence in contemporary poetic and pictorial portrait, and therefore aims at defning a line of reading which is based on the matter of absence, as this expression is, still today, essential for the defnition of the portrait as an artistic category. Moreover, the present article will establish parallels between Vasco Graça Moura’s poetry and the art of Noé Sendas as far as composition goes, focusing on the study of the portrait in absence and the portraying of absence.
