The increasing transnational displacement of humanity around the world mobilizes science in all areas of knowledge and in different directions. This study involved children of Brazilian descent living in London (England), Stockholm (Sweden) and Braga (Portugal), and their goal was to identify how they distanced and approximate their peers in coping with the obstacles of everyday life. The results obtained through ethnographic research revealed the influence of the combination of natural and social factors on the distancing of cultural traits that brought the children closer together. In other words, childhood was inclined towards cooling as children grew, but this cooling varied according to the pressures of the social environment. The pressures corresponded to needs artificially produced. The greater the hostilities in the milieu, the more needs were produced and the children distanced themselves from their childhoods even more. Among the traits of childhood were observed, from their interactions: the imitation which contributes to the transmission of cultural memory; the representation and its contribution to the adaptations; and the soliloquies and their contribution to reflections. Our interpretation of the results was that the childhoods present themselves as mirrors where humanity can reflect on their realities. However, the meanings traditionally attributed to children's cultural expressions contribute to the denial of their childhoods. We hope that the deconstruction of the only playful role of childhood can contribute to its value.
