Manuel Antunes. O lugar das humanidades no futuro da educação

Abstract

O Padre Manuel Antunes (1918-1985) foi um mestre com uma visão fora do comum que anteviu, a partir da segunda metade do século xx, o fim do ensino das humanidades algumas décadas antes da era da tecnologia, da informação e da massificação das redes sociais. A sua argúcia e meditação aturada, juntamente com as excecionais capacidades pedagógicas que possuía, levaram-no a entrever o regresso das mesmas num tempo a vir que se lhe apresentava adverso. Convencido de que cada indivíduo se faz Homem na sua humanidade e de que será impossível compreender-se fora da tradição e cultura de que é devedor, quando num futuro mais ou menos longínquo estiver saturado da informação sem objetivo e da convivencialidade sem propósito, a sua condição lev4-10-á a procurar de novo as raízes e o sentido íntimo do seu destino, individual e coletivo.

Father Manuel Antunes (1918-1985) was a master with an unusual vision who foresaw, from the second half of the 20th century, the end of teaching in the Humanities a few decades before the age of technology, information and the massification of networks social policies. His shrewdness and measured meditation, together with his exceptional pedagogical abilities, led him to glimpse their return in a time of adversity. Convinced that each individual becomes a Man in his humanity and that it will be impossible to understand himself outside the tradition and culture of which he is indebted, when in a more or less distant future he is saturated with information without purpose and coexistence without purpose, his condition will lead him to seek again the roots and the inner sense of his destiny, individual and collective.
