Resumo(s): | Este relatório procura compreender quais as ideias que as crianças possuem sobre recolha,
acontecimentos e probabilidades. This report seeks to understand what ideas children have about collecting, organizing and interpreting data. It is intended to answer three research questions: 1) What previous knowledge do children have about OTD language and representations? 2) What are the children's difficulties regarding the organization of data? and 3) What are the children's difficulties regarding the interpretation of the represented data? This study integrates two different contexts: the first, in pre-school education, involves a group of 22 children aged between three and five years old and the second, in the 1st cycle of Basic Education, integrates a class 24 students from the 3rd year of schooling. In the first study, the methodology used resides in an approximation to the action-research methodology, where the phases of investigation that it involves were taken into account. In this study, the intervention plan was divided into three distinct moments: an initial assessment, an intervention consisting of seven sessions and a final assessment. With regard to the type of tasks, games and stories were taken into account, with which it was possible to conclude that the children were not yet familiar with the different representations of OTD, a fact that has been dissipated with the development of the various sessions, in which they had the opportunity to build and analyze double entry tables, absolute frequency tables, pictograms, pie charts and bar charts. The second study, developed taking into account the same methodology as the previous study, presented a slightly different intervention plan, because due to the pandemic conditions that the country is experiencing, the initial and final evaluations could not be developed, with the intervention consisting of nine sessions. The tasks were mostly content consolidation sheets, in line with what was explored on the telescope, as well as making an explanatory video on the interpretation and construction of bar graphs. Finally, it was concluded that students recognize and analyze the different representations of OTD, the greatest difficulty being in the construction of them, even more in some representations than in others and, with some students in particular, in their interpretation. It was also found that the class was not familiar with the concepts of events and probabilities. |
