Edição enquanto linguagem: a importância do corte

Abstract

Desde o início do século XXI, a linguagem audiovisual multiplicou-se, desenvolveu-se exponencialmente e chegou a todos os ecrãs do mundo. O cinema criou a edição e passado um século desde o seu nascimento o vídeo tornou-se no principal difusor de conteúdo. O presente relatório discorre sobre a edição enquanto ferramenta ao serviço de uma linguagem, pretendendo compreender a importância do corte e do ritmo de cada peça audiovisual, perceber a influência do Cinema na linguagem audiovisual e de, atualmente, a edição servir diferentes géneros. Tendo por base o estágio curricular de seis meses na NEXT, a televisão online do Sporting Clube de Braga, este relatório apresentará, inicialmente, o trabalho que o clube faz, a sua evolução e, partindo da experiência de estágio, discorrerá sobre o tema apresentado, abordando a importância da edição e do simples corte ter várias finalidades. Fazendo a ligação da influência da edição, inicialmente nascida e que servia apenas o Cinema, para o mundo digital, explora qual a real importância do corte e faz um pequeno estudo exploratório sobre os três géneros mais trabalhados durante o estágio: o vídeo institucional, publicidade e entretenimento. Como conclusão depreende-se que o corte é o que cria sentido num vídeo e a edição consegue condicionar e dar novos significados a diferentes imagens. Percebeu-se que entre os três géneros - institucional, publicitário e entretenimento - se partilham caraterísticas e os diferentes tipos de corte: o que difere é o seu uso. Por último, através da justaposição entre teoria e entrevistados, chega-se à conclusão de que montar é criar sentido e o corte é o caminho para se chegar ao produto final.

Since the beginning of the 21st century, audiovisual language has multiplied, developed exponentially and reached every screen in the world. Cinema created the editing and after a century since its birth, video has become the main content diffuser. This report discusses editing as a tool at the service of a language, intending to understand the importance of the cut and rhythm of each audiovisual piece, to understand the influence of Cinema on audiovisual language and that, currently, editing serves different genres. Based on the six-month curricular internship at NEXT, Sporting Clube de Braga's online television, this report will initially present the work that the club does, its evolution and, based on the internship experience, will discuss the topic presented, addressing the importance of editing and simple cutting to serve multiple purposes. Linking the influence of editing, initially born and serving only Cinema, for the digital world, it explores the real importance of cutting and makes a small exploratory study on the three most worked genres during the internship: institutional video, advertising and entertainment. As conclusion, it appears that the cut is what creates meaning in a video and the editing manages to condition and give new meanings to different images. It was noticed that the three genres - institutional, advertising and entertainment - share characteristics and different types of cut: what differs is their use. Finally, through the juxtaposition between theory and interviewees, we reach the conclusion that to editing is to create meaning and the cut is the way to reach the final product.
