As mensagens para Fátima e o “colo” acolhedor de N. Senhora de Fátima

Abstract

O nosso trabalho tem, fundamentalmente, como objeto de estudo, e de interpretação, algumas das cerca de oito milhões de mensagens, enviadas para Nossa Senhora de Fátima (Santuário de Fátima, em Portugal), e guardadas no Arquivo do Santuário de Fátima. Apoiando-me nos dados disponíveis, concluí duas evidências: por um lado, o papel central da figura feminina de Nossa Senhora de Fátima em todas as mensagens, estabelecendo-se com a Senhora-Mãe uma intimidade relacional de cariz sagrado de rosto feminino, nela confidenciando os pedidos, os desabafos e as encomendas espirituais e materiais; por outro lado, a maioria da correspondência, enviada para Fátima, era advinda de mulheres. Coloca-se a questão, que será também objeto de análise: no caso concreto português – no período em análise –, de situação ditatorial e de guerra colonial, de vasto analfabetismo, podemos fazer uma leitura com conotações de género no domínio do religioso? E que leituras culturais, sociais, religiosas, filosóficas, nos é legítimo depreender a partir do conteúdo das referidas mensagens?

Our work has, fundamentally, as object of study, and interpretation some of the approximately eight million messages sent to Our Lady of Fatima (Fatima Sanctuary in Portugal), and kept in the Archive of the Shrine of Fatima. Based on the available data, I concluded two evidences: on the one hand, the central role of the feminine figure of Our Lady of Fatima in all the messages, establishing with Our Lady-Mother a relational intimacy of a sacred nature with a feminine face, confiding in her requests, ventures and spiritual and material orders; on the other hand, the majority of the correspondence sent to Fatima came from women. The question arises, which will also be the object of analysis: in the specific case of Portugal - in the period under review -, with its dictatorial situation and colonial war, and vast illiteracy, can we make a reading with gender connotations in the field of religion? And what cultural, social, religious and philosophical readings can we legitimately deduce from the content of these messages?
