O Brasil em Portugal: as imagens que a mídia virtual portuguesa constrói através da Música Brasileira

Abstract

A tese de doutoramento aqui apresentada discute as imagens que a mídia virtual portuguesa constrói através da música brasileira. O trabalho parte de textos de três cadernos de cultura de jornais portugueses, dos quais foram selecionados textos que se referem a músicos brasileiros. A base metodológica do trabalho é a Análise de Conteúdo proposta por Bardin. A tese se divide em duas partes: Na primeira, são tratados elementos teóricos e metodológicos. São discutidos conceitos importantes para o desenvolvimento do trabalho, como identidade, estereótipo e a função dos media. Seguindo, apresentamos um quadro metodológico com o percurso e a descrição do corpus. Na sequência, são apresentados capítulos que tratam da música brasileira e sua importância como elemento representativo da cultura brasileira e sua inserção no universo da música mundial. Por fim, na primeira parte, discutimos as relações Brasil – Portugal. A segunda parte do texto trata da leitura e interpretação dos dados coletados. No início da segunda parte apresentamos uma série de tabelas com dados que embasam os temas e sua seleção. Os capítulos seguintes discutem os três temas de maior relevância, consideradas a discussão teórica e a análise inicial dos dados: a política brasileira, mulheres e questões de gênero, além da própria relação entre os países através da música. As conclusões apontam para uma imagem do Brasil pautada pela diversidade, tanto musical quanto indenitária, e pela grande presença do gênero MPB no corpus do trabalho.

The doctoral thesis presented here discusses the images that Portuguese virtual media construct through Brazilian music. The work is based on texts from three sections of culture in Portuguese newspapers, from which texts referring to Brazilian musicians were selected. The methodological basis of the work is the Content Analysis proposed by Bardin. The thesis is divided into two parts: In the first, theoretical and methodological elements are considered. Important concepts for the development of the work are discussed, such as identity, stereotype and the role of the media. Next, we present a methodological framework with the trajectory and a description of the corpus. Next, chapters dealing with Brazilian music and its importance as a representative element of Brazilian culture and its insertion in the world of music are carried out. Finally, in the first part, we discuss Brazil - Portugal relations. The second part of the text deals with the reading and interpretation of the collected data. At the beginning of the second part, we present a series of tables with data that support the themes and their selection. The following chapters follow the three main themes of comparison, considering the theoretical discussion and the initial analysis of the data: Brazilian politics, women and gender issues, in addition to the relationship between countries through music. The conclusions point to an image of Brazil marked by diversity, both musical and indentity, and by the great presence of the MPB genre in the work's corpus.
