Neste contexto, surgiu a certificação BREEAM (Building Research Establishment
ocupantes, conferindo-lhes bem-estar e maior produtividade.
The growing energy and population consumption caused several adversities, and measuressuch asthe creation of legislative documents that promote the thermal comfort and energy efficiency of buildings were adopted. Although there are severalsectors ofsociety that contribute to energy costs, in the European Union 40% corresponds to the buildings sector. In this context, the BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) certification emerged, which aims to evaluate the environmental, economic and social performance of buildings, in several categories and through the determination of indicators. Thus, the project of a small commercial and service building, “Garland”, was developed in the company “One Engenharia”, in order to evaluate the indicators of thermal comfort and reduction of energy consumption and CO2 emissions. The study of the thermal comfort of the building was carried out in three stages. In the first two, the Fanger indices were used in order to study the interior conditions in the current climate and possible climate changes. In the third stage, the spaces were divided into five thermal zones, depending on the HVAC systems. In addition, the process of controlling the systems was detailed, ensuring that they were properly done. The results indicate that the building has a high level of thermal comfort. Finally, after the calculation of the parameters of energy needs, primary energy consumption and CO2 emissions through various simulations, the calculation methodology present in one of the BREEAM schemes was used, regarding the indicator of reduction of energy consumption and CO2 emissions. That said, the building has been shown to be energy efficient. It is concluded that the building was designed to meet the thermal needs of its occupants, giving them well-being and greater productivity. All the solutions adopted in the building´s surroundings, in the technical systems and the adoption of renewable energies for self-consumption, guarantee the expected energy performance for a sustainable building. |
