dc.description.abstractThis paper presents an innovative, low coast, portable and high-precision yarn evaluation tester, YSQ (Yarn system Quality), for quality control of yarn charateristics under laboratory conditions. It presents a modular format, wich can integrate simultaneously yarn hairness, mass, regularity and diameter measurements.The quantification of yarn hairiness and diameter variation (with a sampling resolution lenght of 1mm) is carried out using photodiodies; the diameter characterization, based on 0.5 mm with samples, employs a linear photodiode array; the measerument of mass variation based on samples of 1mm, employs a prallel plates capacitive sensors.en
