comportamentos e interesses restritos e repetitivos.
The Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is considered a complex neurodevelopmental disorder, characterized by deficits in social communication and by the presence of behaviors and restricted and repetitive interests. The ASD presents a group of characteristics, including disturbance in the global motor skills, with serious functional impacts throughout the life of children and their families. It is emphasized the importance of early diagnosis and intervention in the ASD and the need for intervention focused in the family, in order to contribute for the child's development optimization. In this research, called Global Motor Skills Assessment of children with and without ASD, resident in the north of Portugal, the objectives of the study are: to evaluate and compare the profile of the global motor skills of children with and without PEA; analyze the influence of age and the child's gender and also the type and frequency of support and the number of years of support of the child with ASD in the profile of the global motor skills; and analyze the influence of educational attainment of parents and their professions in the profile of these skills. The methodology used in this study is quantitative correlational, using descriptive and inferential analysis, the instrument used was the reduced version of Evaluation scale of motor proficiency Bruininks-Oserestsky - 2nd edition (BOT-2) and the study sample consisted of 50 children, 25 with ASD and 25 with typical development, aged between 5 and 6 years. The results allow us to conclude that there are differences in the profile of the global motor skills among children with and without ASD, and the last have better performances. We found that the profile of the global motor skills of children with and without ASD is not influenced by gender or by age and educational and professional level of the parents. Also, regarding children with ASD, the type, frequency and the number of years of support received did not influence the profile of the global motor skills. |
