As perceções dos residentes face ao megaevento "Guimarães Capital Europeia da Cultura 2012"

Abstract

O município de Guimarães vive um período muito interessante da sua história, marcada, sobretudo, pela valorização do seu património histórico, com a designação de Património da Humanidade em 2001, e mais recentemente com a atribuição do título de Capital Europeia da Cultura (C.E.C.) em 2012. Torna-se pertinente portanto, aferir o tipo de participação prevista da população residente em Guimarães no megaevento “Guimarães C.E.C. 2012”, aferir a perceção do impacto esperado do megaevento “Guimarães C.E.C. 2012” na população residente em Guimarães e avaliar a importância do megaevento para a vida quotidiana dos residentes do município de Guimarães. Desta forma, e com base nestes objetivos, aplicamos 510 questionários aos residentes de Guimarães, entre outubro e dezembro de 2011, onde concluímos que 35,5% dos inquiridos tinham a intenção de assistir ao megaevento, somente 14,9% tinham intenção de participar no megaevento e 42,4% tinham um conhecimento médio razoável do megaevento. Ao nível dos impactos, concluímos que são enunciados sobretudo os impactos positivos em detrimento dos impactos negativos.

Guimarães town council lives a very interesting period of its history, marked, especially, by the appreciation of its historic patrimony, with its designation of Mankind Heritage in 2001, and the most recent assignment of The European Culture Capital (E.C.C.) in 2012. It is, therefore, becoming relevant to assess the kind of expected participation of the resident population in Guimarães at the mega event “Guimarães European Culture Capital 2012”, to assess the perception of the impact waited from this mega event on the resident population and to evaluate the importance of this mega event to the daily lives of Guimarães town council inhabitants. This way, and based on this goals, we applied 510 questionnaires to Guimarães inhabitants, between October and December 2011, where we concluded that 35,5% of the inquired had the intention to assist the mega event, and only 14,9% had the intention to participate in the mega event and 43,4% had a reasonable average knowledge of the mega event. At the impact level, we conclude that are enounced mostly the positive impacts over the negative impacts.
