Resumo(s): | O presente estudo analisou a relação entre as variáveis psicológicas: imagem corporal,
atitudes alimentares, satisfação com o suporte social, coping, impulsividade e qualidade de
vida; diferenças nestas variáveis em função do grau e surgimento de obesidade e os preditores
de qualidade de vida. A amostra foi constituída por 200 pacientes indicados para cirurgia
bariátrica. Foram utilizados os instrumentos: Body Shape Questionnaire, Obesity Disordered
Eating Questionnaire, Escala de Satisfação com Suporte Social, Barratt Impulsivity Scale,
Ways of Coping Questionnaire, Short Form Health Survey.
Os resultados revelam uma relação positiva entre a imagem corporal, atitudes
alimentares, coping focado nas emoções e impulsividade e negativa com suporte social,
qualidade de vida mental (QVM) e qualidade de vida física (QVF); relação positiva entre
prática de exercício e QVF; escolaridade e QVM, QVF; e uma relação negativa entre idade e
QVM, QVF; e entre escolaridade e impulsividade. Verificaram-se diferenças na QVM,
imagem corporal, atitudes alimentares, suporte social em função do surgimento da obesidade;
bem como na QVM, QVF, imagem corporal, atitudes alimentares, suporte social,
impulsividade em função da situação laboral mas não do grau de obesidade. A satisfação com
o suporte social revelou ser o principal preditor de QVM e QVF. The present study analyzed the relationship between psychological variables: body image, eating attitudes, satisfaction with social support, coping, impulsivity and quality of life; the differences in these variables on the degree and onset of obesity and predictors of quality of life. The sample consisted of 200 patients referred for bariatric surgery. The instruments Body Shape Questionnaire, Obesity Disordered Eating Questionnaire, Scale of Satisfaction with Social Support, Barratt Impulsivity Scale, Ways of Coping Questionnaire, Short Form Health Survey were used. The results showed a positive association between body image, eating attitudes, coping focused on impulsivity and negative emotions and with social support, mental quality of life (MQL) and physical quality of life (FQL); a positive relationship between practice of exercise and FQL; education and MQL, FQL; a negative relationship between age and MQV, FQV; and between education and impulsivity. Differences were also found on MQL, body image, eating attitudes, social support due to the phase the obesity emerged; as well as on the MQL, FQL, body image, eating attitudes, social support, impulsivity according to employment status but not the degree of obesity. Satisfaction with social support was found to be the main predictor of MQL and FQL. |
