A ficção da ficção. Sobre alguns contos de Camilo Castelo Branco

Abstract

Além de novelista, Camilo Castelo Branco foi também um muito apreciável contista. Talvez dos melhores do século XIX português. Na senda dos estudos de Abel Barros Baptista, é nossa intenção analisar nalguns desses contos um tópico presente em certas novelas: o do encontro do escritor (autor ficcional) com a história. Procuraremos ver em que medida a mobilização desse tópico, que supõe uma ficção anterior à ficção, incide no domínio da construção narrativa.

Besides being a novelist, Camilo Castelo Branco was also a much appreciated short story writer. Perhaps the best in the 19th century. In the path of Abel Barros Baptista’s studies, it is our intention to analyze some of these stories as a topic present in certain novels: that of the encounter of the writer (fictional author) with the story. We will try to demonstrate up to what extent the use of this topic, which presupposes fiction prior to fiction, is focused on the domain of narrative construction.
