O interesse pelas Artes Visuais no jardim de infância

Abstract

Este relatório descreve uma prática pedagógica, cujo principal objetivo foi fomentar o interesse das crianças pelas Artes Visuais, através de atividades continuadas e diversificadas de exploração visual e plástica. Para além do desenvolvimento das atividades, também se procurou compreender o seu impacto e contributo na ampliação de aprendizagens e competências. Este estudo realizou-se numa Instituição Particular de Solidariedade Social, na cidade de Guimarães. O grupo de participantes era constituído por 24 crianças, maioritariamente com 4 anos de idade. Neste projeto de investigação ao serviço das práticas, que envolve as dimensões de investigação e intervenção pedagógica, foi adotada uma metodologia de Investigação-Ação. Num momento inicial foram recolhidos e analisados alguns dados fundamentais, partindo da observação participante e de entrevistas informais, para perceber o interesse das crianças pelas Artes Visuais e aquilo que as motiva. Em seguida, foram desenvolvidos momentos de intervenção, devidamente refletidos e estruturados, partindo de informações previamente recolhidas, com o objetivo de fomentar o interesse pelas Artes Visuais. No final das intervenções as crianças voltaram a ser escutadas, através de instrumentos diversos, o que permitiu comparar a sua motivação pelas Artes Visuais, em momentos diferentes, possibilitando a perceção de quais os resultados das intervenções. A avaliação desta investigação permite constatar o interesse crescente das crianças pelas Artes Visuais e o desenvolvimento de aprendizagens e competências, nomeadamente, da criatividade, da imaginação, da expressão espontânea, que ampliou a confiança e, consequentemente, a autonomia, entre outras. Este projeto permitiu, ainda, consolidar outros saberes, nas diferentes áreas de conteúdo. Em suma, é possível concluir que o interesse das crianças pelas Artes Visuais parece ser potenciado com o auxílio de estratégias específicas e desafiadoras, nas quais são integrados os seus interesses e curiosidades. A forma como o educador apresenta as atividades artísticas condiciona, também, o modo como as crianças experienciam as Artes Visuais e, por conseguinte, o seu desenvolvimento psico-motor.

This report portrays a pedagogical practice whose main objective was to increase or promote children’s awareness and interest for Visual Arts, through the development of continuous and diversified activities for visual and plastic exploration. Besides the implementation of these activities, an effort was made to understand their impact and contribution to the broadening of the learning and skills. This study was performed in a Social Solidarity Private Institution, in Guimarães. The group of participants consisted of 24 children, primarily 4-year-olds. In this research project for the purpose of practicality, involving the dimensions of research and pedagogical intervention, the adopted methodology was Action-Investigation. In the first stage, some fundamental data were collected and analysed, having as basis the observation of each participant and informal interviews, in order to understand the children’s interest in Visual Arts and also what motivates that interest. Then, the intervention moments were developed, properly thought and structured, based on previously gathered information, with the intent of increasing the interest in Visual Arts. After these interventions all the children were again listened to, through multiple mechanisms, allowing for the comparison of their motivation towards Visual Arts at different times, thus enabling one to understand the results of the interventions. The evaluation of this research shows the increasing interest of the children towards Visual Arts and the development of learning and skills, namely, creativity, imagination, spontaneous expression, which expanded their self-confidence, and thus, their autonomy, among others. This project also allowed for the consolidation of other knowledge, in all areas explored. On the whole, it is possible to conclude that the interest of these children for Visual Arts seems to be boosted with the assistance of specific and challenging strategies, in which their individual tastes and curiosities are integrated. The approach taken by the kindergarten teacher to present the artistic activities also conditions the children’s experience of Visual Arts and, consequently, their psychomotor development.
