Monstruosidades e biomorfismos: figurações contemporâneas na literatura e nas séries televisivas (a partir da poesia de Luís Miguel Nava e da série Black Mirror)

Abstract

A seguinte investigação terá um foco duplo de leitura crítica: a produção poética do autor português contemporâneo Luís Miguel Nava, analisada a partir de um corpus constituído por duas obras específicas, O céu sob as entranhas (1989) e Vulcão (1994), obras estas que colocaremos em diálogo, a partir de uma abordagem comparatista intermedial, com a série televisiva britânica Black Mirror (2011), uma produção da provedora Zeppotron, posteriormente comprada pela afamada Netflix, escrita pelo argumentista Charlie Brooker. Esta série será por sua vez alvo de análise a partir de três episódios: “Be Right Back”, “Playtest” e “Black Museum”. Assim, ressaltando noções teóricas centrais ao perfil dos dois campos mediáticos estudados, será explorado o tema da monstruosidade sob uma perspetiva contemporânea, dando relevo ao tópico do corpo, lugar de identidades humanas fragmentadas e em constante metamorfose, física e/ou psicológica. Além de estudos de teoria e crítica literária, que apoiarão a leitura das obras do poeta português selecionado, serão convocados, em termos metodológicos, estudos de intermedialidade que permitam enquadrar a proposta de leitura relacional entre o domínio literário e o televisivo, assim como estudos de identidade, em particular aqueles que se articulam com a filosofia contemporânea sobre o (corpo) humano e os limiares que tece com a animalidade; neste sentido, serão especialmente úteis certos pressupostos dos estudos teratológicos, da bioarte e da zoopoética. Com este trabalho, visámos contribuir globalmente para um entendimento dos objetos literários contemporâneos em articulação com outros produtos da cultura de massas, como os televisivos, entre os quais se tecem cada vez mais nexos intertextuais alternativos. De modo particular, pretende-se também propor um outro olhar sobre a poesia de Luís Miguel Nava cujo centramento sobre o corpo se torna paradigmático de um modo contemporâneo de pensar e figurar a identidade humana.

The following research will have a double focus of critical reading: the poetic production of the contemporary portuguese author Luís Miguel Nava, analysed from a corpus constituted by two specific poetic works, O céu sob as entranhas (1989) and Vulcão (1994), compositions which will be put in dialogue, through an intermedial comparative approach, with the television series Black Mirror (2011), a production of the famous provider Zeppotron, later bought by the famous Netflix, written by the screenwriter Charlie Brooker. This television series will be in its turn object of analysis from three episodes: “Be Right Back”, “Playtest” and “Black Museum”. Thus, highlighting intrinsic theorical notions in relation to the two studied mediatic fields, the subject of monstrosity will be explored under a contemporary perspective, giving significance to the topic of the body, place of the fragmented human identities and in incessant metamorphosis, whatever pychic or psychological. Beyond studies of literary and critical theory, which support the reading of the works of the selected portuguese poet, it will be summoned, in methodological terms, intermediality studies that allow us to frame the relational reading proposal between the literary and television domains, and identity studies, in particular those which can be articulated with the contemporary philosophy of the human (body) and the thresholds that it weaves with animality; in this sense, it will be especially useful certain assumptions of the teratologic, bioart and zoopoetic studies. With this thesis, our proposal is to contribute globally for an understanding of the contemporary literary objects in articulation with other products of the mass culture, such as television, between which more and more alternative intertextual links are being weaved. In a particular way, we also intended to offer a different look over the poetry of Luís Miguel Nava whose focus on the body becomes paradigmatic of a contemporary way of thinking and figure human identity.
